Course Catalog: Spring Semester 2018

Hunter Education - Internet Course
Teens

Every hunter born after 1965 is required by Utah State Law to complete a Hunter Education Course. The Internet Hunters Education Course consists of two parts: the online portion, and the in person test/field day portion. This class is not easier than the Traditional Course; the homework may take more time, but you can do it at your own convenience. Go to wildlife.utah.gov and read all the instructions for the Hunters Education Internet Course; then go one of the three online courses and complete the required study materials. All coursework needs to be completed before the test and field day. Students must print out the proof of completion and bring them to the first day of class or they will not be allowed to participate. The in person field day must include 4 hours of instruction on Firearm Safety, Hunter Responsibility & Ethics, and Wildlife Identification with an Instructor. Upon completion of instruction, each student will take a written exam. The field shoot day will usually be held on a Saturday with shooting times and places to be announced. You must first obtain a Hunter Education Registration Certificate for $10 from any Division of Wildlife Resources license agent (most sporting goods stores) and bring your certificate on the first day of class. Students under 18 yrs old must have their parents' or legal guardians' approval/signature on the certificate. Students must bring their own gun and 50 rounds of ammo on the field shoot day. Upon the successful completion of this course, the instructor will validate the small game license for the student and mail their Hunter Education "blue card" to the address listed on the certificate.
