Core Training for Victim Advocates

The DOVE Center will present a 40-hour training conference for certification in Victim Advocacy.  This training addresses the social, cultural, legal, familial, and other aspects surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault. Topics covered include dynamics and mythology of domestic and sexual violence; crisis intervention; the role of an advocate; survivors; criminal justice system; and trauma stewardship. You’ll also learn about DOVE Center’s trauma-informed programs that assist individuals and families in crisis.
Victim  advocates have an important, but difficult role to play when serving survivors  of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault.   This training provides a foundation and tools to better facilitate  victim assistance, agency collaboration, and a greater understanding of the  impact of sexual violence in our communities.

This training is for anyone interested in becoming a DOVE Center hospital advocate or shelter advocate, other volunteer and professional victim advocates, law enforcement, health care professionals, clergy, therapists, and anyone else who would like to increase their comfort and competency in working with victims.
